Situated on an acre, Growing Place re-imagined and revived an old elementary campus to its full potential for our preschoolers. Five classrooms, an atelier, and a shared outdoor play-space filled with nature contribute to our everyday experiences.

Learning Together

Small groups of children with teachers make up a classroom cohort. This group stays together through their preschool years; experience rich, in-depth experiences, and life-long friendships. Children come to the classroom with different strengths, interests, experiences, and needs. Our children achieve their full potential through trusting relationships and emotionally secure environments.

Nature

The abundance of fruit-bearing trees invites butterflies and fauna to our gardens, which children love to explore. Our beloved dirt hill transforms into a place of enchantment and discovery while a water pump, river space, and water channel-seesaw add to the creation of mud-pies and potions.

Play and Explore

Preschool classics such as swing sets and tire swings are where our children love to swing, spin and soar! Children further develop motor skills through our tricycle path, hand-over-hand bars, and spinner. Our outdoors support play, exploration, and adventurous risk-taking. It invites cooperation, negotiation, and social-emotional development while developing confidence and self-esteem through learner-inspired, hands-on experiences.

Our Classrooms

Our classrooms are large, bright, and airy and host intentionally curated materials: clay, wire, paint, and fabric. The ample rooms give way to light and shadow play, block spaces, and a gathering space for the group.

Atelier

Our shared atelier is a room where children come to create, explore and experience themselves through art. It is a beautiful space brimming with natural light, creativity, and curiosity. The studio is about listening, patience, and encouraging children to see, think and wonder! In addition to encouraging creativity and self-expression, the atelier promotes other benefits for children. Exposure to art develops several important skills, including motor skills, cognitive development, and social and emotional skills.
